My Thoughts on the Cameron/Marr interview
Cameron looked very controlled and self-assured throughout. He made the rhetoric on Europe as easy to swallow as he could. Welfare policies started off with a lot of moderate rhetoric for an allegedly "radical" change to how we do Welfare. He’s not looking to use the same strength of language as Nick Clegg e.g. “savage cuts”!! But then the changes he’s proposing are not significantly radical in any way whatsoever. What he’s proposing is a better version of the status quo essentially. That is disappointing for the centre piece of future governing party’s conference but he doesn't need to be all bells and whistles to win the next election. He literally just has to let time pass without any major cock-ups and he’s won it.
The notion that masses of people aren't going to lose their jobs is laughable. But hey, had it my way they wouldn't have been employed in the first place. We have such grotesquely unrealistic of what the government can and cannot do - it's insane and this does not look like this is going to change.
Marr's grilling of Cameron over his background a little offensive to be honest. Whether someone is rich or poor is never a good indication of an individuals ability to lead. However, he did handle Marr’s “big question” better that Brown handled the big question directed at him.
